Minnesota agency promises inspections at tribal casinos

The Minnesota House Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee held a hearing on Wednesday to discuss Indian gaming regulation.

Michele Tuchner, the new director of the state's Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement division, promised more inspections at tribal casinos. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that some of the biggest facilities haven't been audited in years.

"They [inspections] have declined. They have simply declined,'' Tuchner told lawmakers, the paper reported.

Tribes pay $150,000 a year to help the state with regulation.
