City sets vote on Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe's casino bid

Residents of Freetown, Massachusetts, will vote May 29 on proposed casino for the Aquinnah Wampanoag Tribe.

The tribe hasn't offered details but will reveal the proposed site to town leaders this Thursday. The tribe is also doing the same for potential casinos in Fall River and in Lakeville, although elections have yet to be scheduled in those communities.

H.3702, the state's gaming law, authorizes three casinos. One is reserved for "a federally recognized tribe."

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe is eyeing a casino in Taunton, where a vote will be held June 9.
