Viejas Band debuts a new bingo hall as part of expansion

The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians in California debuted a new bingo hall at its casino.

The tribe's first bingo hall opened at the Ma Tar Awa RV Park in 1977. Bingo games eventually moved into a building at the Viejas Casino.

But that building is being razed to make way for a $36 million hotel at the casino. As part of the expansion, the tribe created a new state-of-the-art, high-stakes bingo hall with 340 seats.

“We’ve come a long way from the early days of bingo at Ma Tar Awa RV Park. The one thing that has remained constant is the strong support and loyalty of our bingo guests," Chairman Anthony Pico said in a press release.
