The Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians held a topping-off ceremony today for its new casino hotel.

The $36 million hotel at the Viejas Casino will feature 128 rooms, a pool and hot tub with a patio area and cabanas, a business center and a fitness room. It's expected to open in the spring of 2013.

"The new Viejas Hotel is an important milestone for the Viejas tribal community. It is a very visible display of economic progress and a reminder that tribal gaming continues to help current and future generations of Viejas families experience economic self-sufficiency and hope," Chairman Anthony R. Pico said in a press release.
