The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is entering the casino race in Massachusetts.

The tribe is joining developer David Nunes to compete on a license for eastern Massachusetts. The casino would be located in Milford, about 35 miles outside of Boston.

“We feel strongly that we’re the best option, in terms of our expertise in this area, the quality of our site and what we’ll do,” Foxwoods CEO Scott Butera told The Boston Globe.

Two other non-Indian gaming companies are also bidding for the eastern Massachusetts license
