Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe takes millions from casino partner

The Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts has borrowed $17.8 million from its gaming partner, The Falmouth Enterprise reports.

An unnamed tribal member said the money funds the tribe's casino effort and the tribe's government operations. About $700,000 a month goes to tribal operations, the paper said.

The tribe is working with Genting Group, a Malaysian company that has ties to Indian Country.
