The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians of California welcomed federal approval of its Class III gaming compact.

The compact reduces the revenue sharing rate at the Red Hawk Casino. It also contains provisions for the tribe to restructure its debt.

"We are very pleased. The amended compact is critically important to Red Hawk Casino's financial sustainability and will enable our gaming enterprise to be in a position to continue to benefit our tribal members, our employees, the state and our local community," Chairman Nick Fonseca said in a press release.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs allowed the compact to go into effect to the extent that its provisions are consistent with the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. A copy of the agreement can be found on the governor's web site.
