The Enterprise Rancheria of California remains confident of its off-reservation casino even as its Class III gaming compact faces delays.

Gov. Jerry Brown (D) has said he won't delay the compact. But some state lawmakers want to develop a policy on off-reservation gaming before moving forward with new projects.

The tribe has been pursuing the casino for more than a decade. The prospect of another delay, however, worries Chairwoman Glenda Nelson.

"You know," Nelson told News10 "I've been told it's really not what's right or wrong. It's politics."

The tribe's gaming site has already been placed in trust. Approval of the compact would be the last major hurdle for the project.

"Tribal gaming will be on tribal land, and this is tribal land," Nelson told News10, referring to the 40-acre site.
