The Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma isn't looking to open a casino on newly acquired land in Kansas, Chief Paula Pechonick said.

The tribe recently acquired 87 acres near Lawrence. Plans call for government services but not gaming.

“We want to be able to tell them we can have housing, child care, government offices and everything else we have down here," Pechonick told The Native American Times.

The tribe will be asking the Bureau of Indian Affairs to place the land in trust.
