The Cow Creek Band of Umpqua
Tribe is still trying to stop the Coquille Tribe from opening a Class II facility in Oregon.
The Cow Creek Band offered to buy the proposed gaming site in Medford, KOBI reports. The tribe offered 110 percent of the price the Coquille Tribe paid for the 2.42-acre site.
"The severity of the intent of what the Coquille is trying to do is very real. It is very significant, it would mean a substantial loss of revenue to our tribe," Michael Rondeau, the CEO of the Cow Creek Band, told KOBI.
The Coquille Tribe submitted a land-into-trust application for the Class II facility. The site is about 186 miles from the Mill Casino, a Class III facility.
The Cow Creek Band operates a Class III facility that is much closer. The Seven Feathers Casino
Resort is about 71 miles from Medford.
