California is in the midst of a prolonged drought but the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians doesn't believe water is an issue for its $160 million casino expansion.

The centerpiece of the project is a 12-story hotel with 215 rooms. The addition will bring the total number of rooms at the Chumash Casino Resort to 315.

Chairman Vincent Armenta said the expansion won't affect the water supply. "We have reduced water usage in the past ten years by over 50 percent," he said at a public meeting last night, KEYT-TV reported.
