Members of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community of Michigan approved $40 million in gaming projects.

According to unofficial results posted on the tribe's website, a gaming referendum passed by a vote of 168 to 107. Plans call for $33.5 million in renovations at the Ojibwa Casino in Marquette and $6.5 million at the facility in Baraga.

Tribal leaders have long been looking for ways to expand or upgrade their gaming operation. But a proposal to relocate the Marquette casino to a location closer to the reservation was rejected by the state governor.

A different plan to relocate the Baraga casino was voted down by tribal members in December 2014.
