Obituary: King Kuka, prominent Blackfeet artist


Kingsley "King" Kuka, a member of the Blackfeet Nation of Montana whose artwork inspired a new generation of Indian artists, died on Monday. He was 57.

Kuka was one of the first graduates of the Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico. He was known for his paintings but also worked in other mediums, including sculpture. He also wrote poetry.
