The Sauk-Suiattle Tribe of Washington is working to restore the numbers of its most important animal, the mountain goat.
The tribe is using a $170,000 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to study habitat and population dynamics of an animal that has been central to tribal life.
The tribe is also working with the state to conduct other studies.
Only about 100 mountain goats remain in the North Cascades Mountains.
