House defies Bush with $275B transportation bill

The House is moving forward with a $275 billion transportation bill despite threat of a veto by President Bush.

The White House has called for a $256 billion limit. The Senate approved a $318 billion version.

Tribes receive a small percentage of federal highway funds through the Indian Reservation Road program. The House version authorizes $1.895 billion through fiscal year 2008 for the program.
