Forum examines delinquency among Navajo youth

A two-day forum was held this week to examine juvenile delinquency issues among youth on the Navajo Nation.

The forum brought together tribal leaders, health care professionals, law enforcement, local officials and parents and youth. Workshops examined school role and response, legal issues, traditional and Western treatment, alcohol use and parent involvement.

The Navajo Nation has been experiencing a rise in crime, gang activity, truancy and substance abuse, participants said.
