Snoqualmie Tribe signs services agreement

The Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington has signed a wide-ranging municipal services agreement with the city of Snoqualmie.

Under the agreement, the city will extend sewer lines and provide police, fire and emergency services to a 56-acre of land the tribe is seeking to have placed in trust. The land will be used for a $60 million, 147,000-square-foot casino.

The tribe submitted the land-into-trust application in February 2001 but is still waiting for an answer.

The tribe gained federal recognition through the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1999.
