New Miss Indian World learned at lot at competition

Delena Smith, the new Miss Indian World, says she learned a lot from her fellow competitors at this year's Gathering of Nations pow-wow.

Smith, 23, a Head Start teacher from the Red Lake Ojibwe Tribe in Minnesota, said she learned of the differences in Alaska tribes and dance styles of Southwest tribes. She taught the other girls how to jingle dance.

Smith was honored at a ceremony on the reservation on Wednesday.
