Troubled ferry poses problems for Makah Tribe

An historic ferry that became an eyesore in Seattle, Washington, is causing problems for the Makah Tribe.

The tribe agreed to provide free moorage to the Kalakala pending restoration of the 1930s vessel. But shortly after arriving within tribal waters, the ferry hit the tribe's pier, causing about $4,000 worth of damage.

The owner wants to turn the Kalakala into a waterfront attraction but communities have been apprehensive. It had to be towed out of Seattle, were it had become a nuisance.
