Several Indian artists were presented with Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts on Wednesday.

Ramoncita Sandoval, an embroiderer from San Juan Pueblo; Ignacia Duran, a potter from Tesuque Pueblo; Dextra Quotskuyva, a Hopi potter; and Clara Sherman, a Navajo weaver were honored for their work. A ceremony took place in Santa Fe.

SWAIA also announced the winners of its Fellowship Award. They are: Jerry Ingram, a Choctaw/Cherokee beadworker and quilter; Carol Emarthle-Douglas, a Seminole/Northern Arapaho basket weaver; Gabriel Paloma, a potter from Zuni Pueblo; Irene Clark, a Navajo weaver, Kevin Pourier, an Oglala Lakota buffalo horn carver; and Olvera Monte, a Tohono O’odham basket weaver.

The fellowship award comes with a $3,000 grant.
