Former Ute Mountain Ute chairwoman sentenced


Judy Knight-Frank, the former chairwoman of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe of Colorado, was sentenced to five months in federal prison and five months of house arrest for falsifying her income tax return.

Knight-Frank, 60, used a tribal payroll advance program to receive $274,538 over a three-year period, prosecutors said. She failed to pay $59,058 in taxes on the money.

Knight-Frank was also ordered to perform 150 hours of community service.
