Northern Cheyenne riders head for Little Bighorn

Riders from the Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana are headed to the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument to participate in the 128th anniversary of the historic June 25, 1876, Battle of the Little Bighorn.

Upwards of 50 tribal members expect to arrive at the monument tomorrow for the commemoration. Riders from other tribes have also come in.

Northern Cheyenne ancestors were among those who battled and defeated U.S. Army forces led by Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer.
