Ceremony for massacre wrongly blamed on tribe

A ceremony is planned in Mountain Meadows, Utah, for a massacre wrongly blamed on the Paiute Tribe.

About 120 Arkansas settlers were attacked and killed while passing through the state on September, 11 1857. Historians now believe Mormons were responsible for the massacre.

To promote healing, Indians in Utah will hold a five-day healing ceremony for the Mountain Meadows Massacre. Organizers are inviting the Mormon church and tribes to participate.
