Coeur d'Alene Tribe to buy lakeside camp for $1.4M


The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho will buy a lakeside camp from Washington State University for $1.4 million.

The Camp Roger Larson on Lake Coeur d'Alene has been shuttered since last year. The university had been considering at least $5 million in improvements to the aging 40-acre site.

Under tribal ownership, the camp will be used for cultural and social activities. The tribe will pay $1 million to a program for Indian scholarships and education programs. as part of the deal with the university.

The tribe owns the southern third of Lake Coeur d'Alene as confirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
