South Dakota tribal summit called a success


South Dakota tribal leaders met with Democrat Sens. Tom Daschle and Tim Johnson on Saturday in what was billed as a "Sioux summit."

Tribal leaders pressed Daschle and Johnson on appropriations, health care, education and other issues. They said the welcomed the chance to sit down one-on-one with the elected officials.

The summit was organized by former newspaper publisher Tim Giago and hosted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. It was not open to the general public.
