Comanche chairman charged with obstructing justice


Wallace Coffey, chairman of the Comanche Nation of Oklahoma, has been charged with one felony count of obstruction of justice.

According to authorities, Coffey admitted to intervening in a child abuse case. Coffey and two tribal officials ignored an FBI order and returned a child to an abusive father, authorities said.

The officials were charged in the Court of Indian Offenses. Coffey faces one-year jail sentence and $5,000 fine.
