Chickasaw astronaut hopes to inspire students


John Herrington, the first American Indian to walk in space, spoke to students in eastern New Mexico on Monday.

Herrington, a member of the Chickasaw Nation, shared his experiences on the Space Shuttle Endeavour. He told students what it was like to be in space and showed a video of his mission.

Herrington took an eagle feather, a flute and a Chickasaw Nation flag into space.
