Diedrich seeks nomination as Agriculture Secretary

South Dakota Republican Larry Diedrich didn't win the U.S. House election on November 2 but he could be headed to Washington, D.C., anyway.

Diedrich has put himself in the running as Secretary of Agriculture or another top agriculture post. He says he has spoken with people about a job with the Bush administration.

Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman made public her resignation on Monday. She is one of several Cabinet members who are leaving.
