Ten Lakota students from South Dakota will be sent to Austria next summer as part of new cultural exchange program.
The
Lakota-Austrian Youth Exchange Program was created by a Lakota language teacher and a German language teacher. They say Austrians have a respect for Lakota culture and language.
Thirty students applied for 10 spots in the program. They are rasing $17,000 to cover airfare and other expenses.
