Paper asks about sovereignty: Is it good or bad?

The Daily Oklahoman asks "Should tribal sovereignty be rolled back?" The answer is "Yes" if you are a member of One Nation and "No" if you are Neal McCaleb.

Two staff writers include viewpoints pro and con on the issue. The One Nation answer is that it is unfair to have another form of government in the U.S. "Why do we have nations within our nation?" the director of the group, an oil and gas businessman, asks.

Tribal representatives criticized One Nation as anti-Indian and racist. McCaleb, the former assistant secretary, said that tribal governments have survived for more than 200 years under the U.S. framework."That makes an important point about the efficiency and efficacy of tribal government."," he says.
