BIA students in S.D. touched by Anderson's message

Bureau of Indian Affairs head Dave Anderson wrapped up his four-day visit to schools in North Dakota and South Dakota.

Anderson spoke to students and met with tribal leaders on the Lower Brule and Crow Creek reservations yesterday. Students said they were impressed by his story of personal achievement and positivity.

"I've never had anyone speak to me like that before," Lower Brule senior Michelle Johnson told The Sioux Falls Argus Leader. "He touched my heart. He should do this more often."

"He made you listen and think," senior Sidney Walters said. "I thought it was great. It was cool."

Anderson told the paper he used to visit South Dakota as a child because his mother ran a fry bread stand at pow-wows.
