Kickapoo Tribe asks BIA for help on reservoir

The Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas is asking the Bureau of Indian Affairs to condemn land for a critical reservoir project.

The tribe's reservation has suffered from drought conditions for several years. The 475-acre reservoir would help address the water needs.

The tribe is asking the BIA for help because the local water district have declined to vote on condemnation. The tribe is meeting with assistant secretary Dave Anderson next week to talk about the issue.
