Arizona Republicans finally attracting Indian vote

Arizona Republicans don't expect George W. Bush to take the Indian vote this November but the party is making inroads on the state's reservations.

The San Carlos Apache Tribe endorsed Rep. Rick Renzi (R) for a second term against Democrat Paul Babbitt. The Navajo Nation, the White Mountain Apache Tribe and Camp Verde Yavapai-Apache Nation also might endorse Renzi, who has made Indian issues a priority.

The San Carlos Apache tribal council is overwhelmingly Democratic but endorsed Renzi because Babbitt didn't reach out to the tribe, said vice chairman Robert Howard.
