UND's Indian nursing program receives federal grant

The Recruitment and Retention of American Indians into Nursing program at the University of North Dakota has received a $567,000 federal grant to further its goals.

The three-year grant from the Department of Health and Human Services will help the program recruit more Indian nurses. The money will pay for a weeklong orientation session for new students, a part-time science mentor and travel to national conferences.

Since it started 15 years ago, the program has produced more than 100 Indian health professionals, The Grand Forks Herald reported.
