Stockbridge-Munsee Band sues Oneida Nation for land

The Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans of Wisconsin has filed a land claim against the Oneida Nation of New York.

The Stockbridge-Munsees say the Oneida Nation bought 3,500 acres that rightfully belongs to them. But a spokesperson for the Oneidas said the claim is meritless.

The new claim is part of a suit the Stockbridge-Munsees filed in 1986. The Stockbridge-Munsees are seeking the return of 23,000 acres in New York. They also want a casino in the Catskills.
