Kickapoo women get trespass charges dismissed

Three Kickapoo women who occupied the tribe's headquarters during a Christmas-New Year's protest had trespass charges against them dismissed.

Auchee Wahpepah, Valentina Jimenez and Glenda Deer were set to go to trial but a tribal judge threw out the charges. A tribal prosecutor blamed a "technicality" but Deer said the case against them was frivolous.

The women, all elderly, occupied the headquarters until they were removed by a swarm of law enforcement on January 2, 2004.
