The Shivwits Band of Paiutes from Utah will honor its many veterans with a 21-gun salute and a ceremony today.
Chairman Glenn Rogers says the tribe holds special reverence for its veterans, who are given certain privileges. His father, Will Rogers, was the tribe's last surviving World War II veteran.
Rogers and other tribal members have carried on the military tradition of their ancestors. But the number of veterans in the tribe is slowly falling.
