Priscilla Hunter, the chairwoman of the Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians from California, was ousted in the tribe's primary election on Tuesday.
Hunter came in last among four candidates running for chair, The Ukiah Daily Journal reported.
John Feliz Jr., who has opposed Hunter's leadership, gained the most votes and he will face Correy Alcantra, a critic of Hunter and Feliz.
Hunter has been the subject of a leadership dispute and tribal members attempted to remove her from office. Her home and office were raided in May over alleged irregularities at the tribe's casino. She said the raid was unwarranted.
