Tribal partnership to build another hotel

A partnership of three tribes plans to build a $53 million hotel in Sacramento, California.

The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians of California, the Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians from California and the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin have formed the Three Fires partnership. They will own 62 percent of the 15-story Marriott hotel, three blocks from the state Capitol.

The venture is the second time the three tribes have worked together. Along with the Forest County Potawatomi Tribe from Wisconsin, the tribes are opening a $43 million Residence Inn by Marriott in Washington, D.C., three blocks from the U.S. Capitol.
