Navajo Nation committee pulls aircraft plant deal

The Navajo Nation Council's Economic Development Committee voted unanimously on Wednesday to pull a deal to host an aircraft parts plant on the reservation.

The committee had previously agreed to invest an initial $1.25 million. But after receiving more information, delegates concluded the deal with Utilicraft Aerospace Corp. was too risky.

State officials had sounded their own alarms about the project. Two agencies questioned whether the tribe would be getting a fair share for its investment.
