Oregon tribe plans Chinook language immersion

The Confederated Grand Ronde Tribes of Oregon and a local school district are reaching an agreement to offer a Chinook language immersion program.

The tribe has developed a program to teach the language to first- and second-graders. The tribe worked with a linguist to create a written alphabet for the Chinuk-wawa language.
