Opinion: McCain right to probe fleecing of tribes

"But back to Arizona, home sweet home, and the most interesting senator of all, John McCain.

As chairman of Indian Affairs, he has vowed to 'get to the bottom' of the investigation into 'where Indian tribes were defrauded.'

The panel has its next hearing April 27 into whether lobbyist Jack Abramoff and publicist Mike Scanlon defrauded six tribes out of $82 million.

While McCain may not be Indian, he long has demonstrated deep concern about ethics. That value will prove key to this probe."
