South Dakota Gov. Mike Rounds (R) and Oglala Sioux Tribe President Cecelia Fire Thunder signed an agreement to cover road work on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

The state and tribe agreed to a five-year plan for $17.6 million in road construction and maintenance projects on the reservation. It is the seventh of eight state-tribal agreements.

The state has been refunding money to tribes for an illegal gas tax that was imposed on tribal embers. The money is being used for road project as well.
