Sheriff's ties to Seminole Tribe under more scrutiny

A Florida county sheriff under state investigation for possible corruption in relation to the shooting of Seminole lawyer Jim Shore is facing a federal probe into his ties with the Seminole Tribe, The Miami Herald reports.

Broward Sheriff Ken Jenne's security firm went to work for the tribe after Shore was the victim of a mob-style assassination attempt. Shore, who is blind, survived but no individuals have been charged with the January 2002 crime.

Jenne's ties to the tribe are under scrutiny because his office was part of the Shore investigation. At the same time, he was paid $60,000 by a private firm that "provided security and regulatory advice" to the tribe after the hit.

Federal investigators have interviewed people involved in the Shore case, The Herald said.
