The Washington Department of Transportation has halted work at a state construction project due to the discovery of at least two tribal ancestors.

The state will work with the Stillaguamish Tribe on how to handle the remains. An adult woman and adult male have been uncovered.

The $1 million Highway 530 road project is on hold until at least next week. It is the latest in a round of state construction project that have been halted due to the discovery of tribal remains and artifacts.
