Altercation at San Pasqual Band council meeting

Three people were hurt and one man was arrested at a council meeting for the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians on Sunday, The North County Times reports.

Local police were stationed outside the meeting when the fight erupted. During the melee, one man was assaulted, an elderly woman suffered a forehead injury and another elderly woman required attention for a heart condition, the paper said.

Factions of the tribe are fighting over the addition of about 200 members to the 300-member tribe. Some tribal council members say the move was done illegally.
