The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians held a ceremony on Thursday to release a rehabilitated hawk back into the wild.
The red-tailed hawk was found a month ago by a tribal member. It had been weakened after apparently being poisoned by gopher bait.
The tribe brought in a raptor specialist to bring the hawk back to health. The tribe is discussing the creation of a regular release program.
