National
Ceremony planned for elderly Navajo couple's home

A ceremony will be held on Thursday to dedicate the new home of an elderly Navajo couple.

Mary and Kee Augustine received the home thanks to the efforts of the Stardust Center for Affordable Homes and the Family at Arizona State University. The center seeks to promote affordable and environmentally friendly housing.

The home for the Augustines reflects that goal. Designed by Navajo architecture students, it incorporates traditional Navajo designs. It was built with FlexCrete, a lighter version of concrete that can keep homes warm or cool without air conditioning or central heat.
