Oneida Nation of Wisconsin swears in new leaders

Leaders of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin were sworn into office on Monday.

Gerald Danforth was sworn in as chairman, a title he previously held from 1999 to 2002. He said health care is a top priority. He also hoped for a settlement to the tribe's 250,000-acre land claim in New York.

Nine business committee members, along with officials of tribal boards and commissions, were also sworn in during a first-ever outdoor ceremony at the Norbert Hill Center.
