Canada's top court takes on Native rights cases

The Supreme Court of Canada is hearing two Native rights cases this week.

In one case, a Native man in New Brunswick won the right to log timber on Crown land. But in the other case, 35 Mi'kmaqs in Nova Scotia lost a ruling to harvest trees on Crown land.

The Supreme Court will resolve the difference. Previously, the court ruled that Natives can fish on Crown land.
